Pendulum stops after 10-15 minutes - NAWCC Forums
2019年2月20日 · Ok, we have finally reached the point of this post. The clock’s pendulum stops after about 10-20 minutes. I have read up a bit on this. I have listened to the tick/tock and it sounds even to me - like a metronome. However, the pendulum does swing in a diagonal back to front motion rather than just side to side.
HOW A PENDULUM CLOCK WORKS - NAWCC Forums
2015年1月21日 · The crutch isn’t attached directly to the pendulum. The pendulum hangs from a flat suspension spring, and swings freely. But the rod or leader of the pendulum passes loosely through a loop in the end of the crutch. So when the pendulum swings, the crutch swings. The rate of the crutch is determined by the rate of the pendulum.
Verge adjustment question - NAWCC Forums
2007年12月3日 · But the "suspension point" of the pendulum being aligned with the verge pivot holds only for knife-edge or Cuckoo suspensions. For more conventional pendulum suspensions, the "center of flexiture" of the suspension spring should be in line with the verge pivot so that the pendulum and crutch move in the same arc.
How to determine suspension spring length | NAWCC Forums
2012年1月16日 · The pendulum length can be calculated from the number of teeth on each wheel above the center arbor. The pendulum length calculated will usually be from the center of oscillation to somewhere near the center of the pendulum bob. From the wheel tooth count, you can also determine the beats per hour/minute that will result in good timekeeping.
Hermle 451-050H runs briefly then stops | NAWCC Forums
2024年12月14日 · I don't know how tight the thumb screw holding the suspension spring should be nor the tension screw on the piece that holds the pendulum. The clock will run for about 20 cycles of the pendulum and then you can see the piece holding the pendulum will jump/stutter and it stops. I could only upload this short clip because of file upload limitations.
Banjo Clock Erratic Time Issue | NAWCC Forums
2025年2月25日 · Isochronism in a clock (where the interval of the pendulum making different arcs is the same) is affected by many things including the adjustment of the escapement. If you are referring to a common recoil or anchor escapement, then increasing the "escapement depth" will increase the pendulum arc, but more importantly it will increase the recoil.
Seth Thomas Speed Adjustment | NAWCC Forums
2016年3月11日 · Some of these allowed you to adjust the length of the pendulum at the bob itself (sometimes with a setscrew) as well as with the speed control on the clock face. This latter adjusts the length of the flat flexible suspension spring from which the pendulum hangs. But if the clock is gaining 20 seconds per hour, that's not where the difficulty is.

2022年11月26日 · Hi I bought it on eBay for restoration project without pendulum. Can you help me to find out what weight and length could be for that mechanizm "Franz Hermle --31cm 125.780 -- 261-080A please.
Typical Accuracy - NAWCC Forums
2021年2月11日 · What you have there is a good assessment on what clocks can do. A minute or two for long pendulum clocks and within 5 minutes or so for short pendulum clocks. Many clocks need a wider range than this ... When I hear someone talking about seconds per month and using words like "perfect time", I know there's an amateur a-talking there.

2025年2月26日 · Additionally, and my understanding may be incorrect here, I thought that if the adjustment was all the way to the top that it effectively lengthened the pendulum by changing the pivot point higher, making the clock run slower. Conversely, moving the mechanism lower effectively shortens the pendulum, thereby making the clock faster. Please confirm.
