The Volca has the typical volca sequencer: 16 step (with pattern chaining) with automation recording and active step/step jump features. The Liven XFM offers 64 step sequences with time divisions between 1/1 and 1/32 (including dotted and triplet).

2022年4月22日 · The XFM is far more flexible from a building sounds perspective (not confined to certain algorithms) but it is a 4-operator synth. The big plus for the volcas is that they are 6-operator and can benefit from the existing huge library of DX-7 sounds. The XFM has 4 tracks and a much better sequencer.

2022年7月5日 · It is definitely not very obvious, but creating your own waveforms is much less important to the overall experience of the device vs giving access to FM sound design in the Liven XFM. I think the overlay vs not decisions on the Warps and XFM are the right ones.

While the Sonicware Liven XFM is more capable as a beat making machine, I thought I'd put the Korg Volca FM2 up to the sound test to see where it can compete. No external effects were added....

2021年1月29日 · Liven XFM sounds like it could be a lot of fun, and at just $199, it has the potential to upset the entry-level FM applecart. It’s cheaper than Elektron’s Model:Cycles , but more expensive - and seemingly more feature-packed - than Korg’s Volca FM .

2022年4月20日 · The Liven XFM is a much more budget instrument and does feel pretty cheap. It's more portable with batteries and a token speaker (which is not much better than the Volca speakers, as a point of comparison).
