The info write up seemed good and the price is reasonable, but I don't know anything about shars tools. I am interested in a 4 jaw scroll chuck 6" for my southbend heavy 10 lathe.

2013年2月25日 · A lot of the Shars stuff is meaningless Japanese, Chinese or Hindi fluff. Seems likr when they include perfarmance data it is the engineering specs and not the actual performance of a specific item. I have neard pros and cons for buying from Shars, but have never bought from them myself so cannot confirm or deny any claims.

2022年4月3日 · Also on the Shars you can only lock the 5C rotation at specific points, and 5 degrees isn’t one of them. The second scheme is to set the “tilt” to 5 degrees, the “rotary table” to 30 degrees, and the tool flat to the table.

2014年7月11日 · I've never ordered from Shars directly, but I have had excellent customer service from Discount Machine Shop on eBay. I've ordered over $1000 in shars tools from them in the past year and only had one issue. I received a Z height setter gauge for CNC use at work which had some sticking throughout the range of motion and they replaced it no problem.

2020年6月29日 · The Shars vise linked in the first post is what I have on my RF31, where 5" is the right size. It's a nice vise, I think it's a good value. Get a 6" for a knee mill.

2024年6月25日 · Shars OXA #1 Quick Change Turning Facing Tool Post Holder CNC 250-001 The set comes with 5 tool holders and I ordered a few extra tool holders. I got them off of eBay from Discount Machine Shop, which is Shars' store on eBay. The parts can be ordered online directly from Shars, but their eBay prices are lower.

2018年12月19日 · A new Bison is probably too expensive at ~600 dollars new. The Gator equivalent seems to be around 450 new. I see TMX (Chinese, not Polish) 10" chucks on ebay at a price comparable to Shars stuff. The cheapest is the CME 4 jaw which actually comes with a semi finished L00 backplate.

2020年8月18日 · I have a AXA tool on my lathe but the tool holders onlyhandle up to 1/2" shank tools. I am looking to replace it with a BXA. Can't afford the Aloris or Phase II. Looking at the Bostar and Shars. Does anyone have any experience with these? Is one better than the other? Any concerns with either? Thanks very much for the help.
