
Czech ZK 420-S rifle - Forgotten Weapons
The ZK 420-S was a Czech wartime development very similar to the M1 Garand rifle, produced in 1945. The primary difference was the use of a rotating bolt very similar to what would be used in the Soviet AK-47 several years later. It likely influenced the development of the M14 rifle, though it failed to gain commercial success.

Very rare Czech ZK420-S designed by brothers Josef & Frantisek Koucky. The rifle was designed in 1942 but due to WW2 the rifle wouldn’t be produced until after the war.

This rifle design incorporates design features of other self loading rifles of the period such as the earlier Czech semi autos & the M1 Garand.

This too from "Assault Rifles of the World". the ZK 420’ s bolt group group amounts to a highly refined variation of that later used in the Soviet AK-47 rifle, or more correctly, the AK-47’ s bolt group is a simplified variant of the bolt in the ZK 420-S.
