The EMD GP15 is a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between June 1976 and April 1983. Intended to provide an alternative to the rebuilding programs that many railroads were applying to their early road switchers, it is generally employed as a yard switcher or light road switcher .

The EMD (Electro-Motive Division) GP15 Series is a series or line of 8-12 cylinder, 1,500hp, four-axle diesel locomotives consisting of three models built between 1976 to 1983 with 368 built. Many are still currently in service, though some have since been retired or scrapped.

EMD introduced the GP15-1 in 1975 as a replacement for aging GP7s and GP9s still being used for switching, transfer and wayfreight service. Buyers had to provide a trade-in unit for the traction motors, trucks and main generators. Outwardly, GP15-1s looked like 35 Series engines, with a long hood, road-style cab and short nose.
