2009年4月14日 · Here, we report a method and instrumentation for rapid quantification of an immunochromatographic assay by using only one detection zone for human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Instead of a chromophore-label, the antibody was labeled with superparamagnetic microparticles detected by measuring the magnetization in a detector coil.

When a fertilized ovum is implanted into the chorionic tissue, the human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) hormone is released. This produces a luteotrophic effect, maintaining the corpus luteum, and thus enabling it to continue secreting progesterone, needed to maintain pregnancy. Consequently, hCG is a specific marker for pregnancy.
