The Belgian company Mecar has developed a family of 90mm ammunition for the CMI MK8 weapon system; it produces the ammunition for the the CMI 90mm turret of the LAV-25 Piranha manufactured in Canada. Mecar is the only producer of this type of ammunition and has only one factory, in Seneffe.

LAV-300, a state-of-the-art 6x6 wheeled armored vehicle, reaches speeds of 65 mph (105 km/hr) and accelerates from zero to 20 mph (32 km/hr) in less than 10 seconds. The body is constructed of ballistic steel plate that defeats multiple hits by 7.62-mm ammunition. The fully amphibious LAV-300 is outfitted to customer specifications.

These new LAV-A2’s were based on the newer MOWAG Piranha 2 chassis and incorporated substantial upgrades to the entire vehicles including armor package, suspension, weapons and fire control systems. In addition, the USMC decided to upgrade all the LAV-A1 vehicles to A2 standards; which are ongoing at this time.
