2023年2月4日 · These sensor are in a bad location, & easy to damage while getting the VC off. It looks like 3 bolts. That is a tight place to work getting the screws in & tightened. The sensors aren't cheap, & this is a do it right the 1st time type of job!

I spoke to an independent mechanic and they said that it could be the eccentric shaft sensor, or the valvetronic motor, or the timing and that I should isolate it before throwing parts at it.

2017年6月14日 · Get that sorted first, then you can look at the Valvetronic issue, which can also prevent the car from starting if the eccentric shaft is jammed and can't close, interfering with the compression of the engine at start.

2021年5月22日 · What do these errors mean. They write in after everytime car's bad cranking. Or when I accelerate hard. I relearned valvetronic stops in ISTA. Can drive for about 50-100 km, bad cranking on hot - and valvetronic motor turns off. The revs become smooth and the idle is rough. Then the engine become producing a hum on hot at range 2000-2500 rpm.

I replaced the sensor with a Genuine BMW sensor and put everything back together. Ever since, I have been getting codes 2A59 "Valvetronic eccentric shaft sensor guide" and code 2A5B "Valvetronic eccentric shaft sensor reference."

2020年10月21日 · My brother owns a 2006 BMW 318i with the 129hp N46 engine. The started burning oil after 364.000km. Engine back in the car; it starts and idles fine. After about 30 minutes the engine clicked over, and we got the 2A5B error. If we leave the car for a day or 2, clear the faults and it will run fine without any errors for about 30 minutes to an hour.
