The Staten Island Railway (SIR) is a railroad line in the New York City borough of Staten Island. It is owned by the Staten Island Rapid Transit Operating Authority (SIRTOA), a subsidiary of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and operated by the New York City Transit Authority Department of Subways.

2019年11月27日 · Until then, riders will continue to be served by the Staten Island Railway’s (SIR) fleet of 47-year-old ”R44” train cars — a model that has been retired from all other lines in the city since 2010. The R44s were built and delivered for use throughout the MTA in 1971 and 1972.

Today the railway uses the oldest “subway” cars in operation, modified R44 subway cars, due to different signaling requirements on the SIR. All R44 cars were retired from the NYC Subway in 2011. New R211S cars are currently in testing and scheduled to replace the current R44 fleet throughout 2024.

Inspection area included are car body bolster gussets, area of the car body bolster to the side sill web and HVAC support bracket area.
