Sometime in 2020, a year after The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of 21st Century Fox, the original 20th Television was absorbed into Disney Entertainment Distribution, and TCFTV was rebranded as 20th Television on August 10, 2020 as part of a corporate restructuring.

20th Television began as TCF Television Productions, Inc. in 1955, with the initials "TCF" being "20th Century-Fox" or "Twentieth Century-Fox" as the structure being weird. In October 1958, TCF Television Productions, Inc. was renamed as 20th Century-Fox Television to match the 1935 20th Century Fox logo.

After Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation acquired TCF on March 6, 1986, TCF/News Corp acquired the television holdings of Metromedia (including its TV stations and television production company), this acquisition helped News Corp launch the Fox Broadcasting Company, and TCFTV became the production arm of FBC.

Today, the former TCFTV library is owned by the Walt Disney Company. TCFTV also produced cable television shows under the Fox 21 name.
