The X40 is a series of electric multiple units operated by SJ of Sweden. They are in service from Stockholm to Linköping, Västerås/Örebro, Uppsala and Gävle/Sandviken, and since 2010 to Gothenburg via Västerås.

Det första upprustade tåget (X40 3337) var klart i november 2024 och sattes i trafik i februari 2025. I början av 2028 ska samtliga X40 med tre vagnar vara upprustade. Tågen kommer efter hand också få ETCS (European Train Control System) som ersätter den äldre ATC-utrustningen och är en del i trafikerings- och säkerhetssystemet ERTMS.

X40, eller Alstom Coradia Duplex, är ett tysktillverkat elektriskt motorvagnståg i trafik hos den svenska tågoperatören SJ. Vagntypen har två våningar ( dubbeldäckare ). 42 X40-vagnar levererades till SJ av Alstom 2004–2008.

2025年2月7日 · SJ has introduced the first upgraded Alstom X40 double-decker train into passenger service, a mid-life overhaul program. The X40 series has been in operation for 20 years, covering extensive distances on Swedish railways. The modernization aims to maintain their operational viability by updating passenger amenities and technical features.

2025年2月13日 · SWEDISH state-owned operator SJ has put the first refurbished three-car X40 double-deck EMU into service. The train has been operating on the Västerås - Stockholm line since February 6. Another 26 trains are set to be refurbished under the project, returning to service at a rate of one per month until 2027.

2023年4月7日 · Finnish rail fleet maintenance company VR FleetCare and Swedish railway operator SJ AB have signed an agreement that includes a comprehensive modernisation of the X40 fleet's 27 electric trains and an update of the passenger information system.
