The 1st Battalion (Mechanized), 50th Infantry served in Vietnam from 22 September 1967 to 13 December 1970 in II Corps (Central Highlands), providing our combat power to major units as and where it was most needed. At times we were attached to the 1st Cavalry Division, 4th Infantry Division, 173d Airborne Brigade and 1st Field Force Vietnam.

The 1/50 is now an Infantry training battalion at Fort Benning. Infantry Training Brigade Deactivated 18 May, 2007 and replaced with the newly Activated 198th Infantry Brigade, United States Army Infantry Center, Fort Benning, Georgia.

Dates have been set for the 2025 reunion. We will gather from May 6th to May 9th. Our host hotel will again be the Hampton Inn and Suites, Phenix City, AL.
