Twelver Shīʿism (Arabic: اِثْنَا عَشَرِيَّة; iṯnā ʿašariyya), also known as Imāmiyya (Arabic: إِمَامِيَّة ʿamāmiyya), is the largest branch of Shīʿa Islam, comprising about 85% of all Shīas.

The Twelve Imams (Arabic: ٱلْأَئِمَّة ٱلْٱثْنَا عَشَر, al-ʾAʾimmah al-ʾIthnā ʿAšar; Persian: دوازده امام, Davâzdah Emâm) are the spiritual and political successors to the Islamic prophet Muhammad in the Twelver branch of Shia Islam, including that of the Alawite and Alevi. [1]

Following the 12th imam’s occultation, the Twelver Shiʿah enjoyed a measure of tolerance during the Būyid period (945–1055) in what is now Iran and in Baghdad.

These peaks are collectively known as the “12ers.” The nine Idaho 12ers are the most sought-after goals for Idaho climbers, led by Idaho’s highest peak, Mount Borah. While the 12ers are rivaled by many lesser Idaho peaks, in terms of aesthetics and climbing difficulty, the 12ers provide plenty of outstanding views and challenging routes.
