154CM vs. S30V vs. VG-10 in the real world.... - BladeForums.com
2007年1月9日 · All are very similiar in my experience, S30V is a little tougher than 154cm, and will hold an edge slightly longer than both, but the trade off is it will also be slightly more difficult to sharpen, between 154cm and VG-10 almost no difference really, VG-10 might hold an edge like 2% longer, but the blade grind/edge will make way more of a difference, so in actual use, …
VG10 vs. 154cm - BladeForums.com
2013年5月5日 · Though I of course respect knarfeng’s opinion, I strongly feel VG-10 takes a much finer edge than 154CM. I think everything else is a wash but man can I put a fine edge on VG10 in a couple minutes that rivals any steel in my collection. 154CM always feels a …
CPM 154 VS 154 CM Is there any difference in these two steels?
2006年8月14日 · Except that 154CM was not developed by Crucible. And Hitachi did not develop ATS-34 for Bob Loveless. And your timeline is wrong. 154CM was developed by Climax Molybdenum Company (hence the suffix "CM"). It was used for fan blades for jet turbines at one point. Crucible bought the alloy formulation from Climax Molybdenum.
M390 Toughness vs. 154CM, etc... General Knife Discussion
2015年2月21日 · For argument's sake, let's say we're comparing two Griptilians, and that the 154CM blade is at what Benchmade typically sets HRC (58-61). I believe their M390 is 60-62. I understand tool steels will generally be tougher (I know 154CM isn't tool steel), and that toughness depends on blade shape, edge geometry, heat treat, cutting methods ...
154CM vs. D2 - BladeForums.com
2005年3月18日 · It is one of the 154CM bladed 710's. Most of my knives from BM have been 154CM or S30V. The only knife I have in D2 is a queen copperhead. I know that was a pain to thin out, so I had it convexed by BRK&T. I have not looked back since then, and I can keep it razor sharp now. I have never had a problem with 154CM, but how does it compare to D2?
Is 154CM easy to sharpen? - BladeForums.com
2005年11月20日 · 154CM is very easy to resharpen, and takes a screaming edge in no time. In my experience, it is nothing like S30V. 154CM will form a burr much faster and will respond better to white strop compound on leather, or just use a smooth piece of cardboard to strop.
440C vs 154CM steel? - BladeForums.com
2009年5月19日 · 154CM is definitely a step up, but BM's 440C on their older models is NOT the same as the 440 or 440C you see on the Chinese made knives. While the newer BM's with 154CM is a step-up (& an upgrade that BM did), their 440C blades are still very good. IIRC, BM HT their 440C at 58-60 & their 154CM at the same, I believe.
how is 154cm for bushcraft? And how is it compared to 1095?
2015年1月11日 · 154CM is a great steel. It used to be all the rage for knife makers until they jumped on the S30V bandwagon. To say there are better steels is misleading. Some steels are better for one thing and some for another. 154CM is the same as ATS-34 and nearly identical to VG10. It is an excellent steel and you should not have any issues.

do we have a winner in VG10 vs 154cm? - BladeForums.com
2009年7月2日 · My ATS34/154cm blades have always held an edge a bit better, but other than that I have liked both steels. I guess if I had to choose one or the other from a quality maker, I would probably pick 154cm/ATS34. It use to be one of my favorite steels in the 90's. But I would not turn down a VG10 steel blade either.
