2021年9月21日 · The change is part of a long term plan that started 10 years ago to move from support to effects-based operations. MDT won't have their own AFSC and is a part of the plan but it's not the reason for the change. Old folks will recall they changed the officers a few years ago from 33D to 17D and this is just the next phase.

Movement to/from the new AFSC will be based on the Cyber Airmen's: Aptitude Ability Evaluation, AF Needs, CC/CEM input, and the member's input. So unlike the previous career field mergers, where we were all forced into new AFSCs with really no choice.

My AFSC was 1B471 and my job title was Cyber Warfare Operator....that is the premier cybersecurity AFSC for the AF. It used to be retrain only and they only took the best of the best. Now, they let Amn who did good in tech school in...so it has been washed down a bit.

2023年6月27日 · I think most people are reading this as you asking what AFSC to join. I'm interpreting this as you looking to transition to civ from 1D7. If you do want to go into cyber, I'd recommend you get some certs and apply for a entry SOC analyst position. You'd at the minimum need Security+, but other certs like CYSA+, GCIH, and CISSP will open more doors.
