Blackwater Community School is located on the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC) southeast of Phoenix, AZ. The reservation is 583,748 square miles and consists of seven distinct districts with a population of 11,712 (2010 Census). Our School primarily serves two geographic areas of this community District 1 and District 2.

Our students achieve academic excellence and are prepared to succeed in top performing high schools and colleges. BwCCS 2 students develop and use G.R.I.T. (Good Judgment, Resilience, Integrity, and Teamwork) for personal and community improvement.

In 2015, the U.S. Department of Justice awarded over $23 million in funding to support the implementation of BWC programs throughout the country, 1 and a nationwide survey found that 95% of police departments either have already or intend to implement a BWC program. 2. The push for BWCs has been a result of tenuous relationships between police and communities of color, often but not always due to inappropriate or excessive uses of force by White officers against Black residents.

Parents/Guardians, December is a very eventful month for BWCS, so please review all the upcoming events and reminders. Testing will take place in the first two weeks.
