2023年10月20日 · .22lr is a tool that I recommend having in your SHTF toolbox, both handgun and longarm, along with plenty of ammo. Like any toolbox though, each tool has it's uses and is not the solution to every problem.

Its lightweight, compact enough for my needs, easy to clean, most MilSpec AR parts work with it (so part availability is good), customized to my liking, 2" groups at 100 yards, man size (10"x12" )targets out to 300 yards! Quiet with subsonic ammo and cycles everything I have put in it!

2015年10月12日 · The reality is that a well-made .22-caliber rifle such as the Ruger 10/22 Takedown model will cover many of the real-world situations that a prepper might come up against in either a SHTF incident or simply living off the grid for an extended period of time.

.22 would be great in a shtf survival situation. The Air Force puts .22 takedown survival rifles in planes. You can carry tons of ammo, you can take small game and even game up to deer sized if you really had no other choice, and lots of rounds of .22 coming at someone makes a decent self defense option too.

2025年1月5日 · So yes a 22lr is perfect for SHTF backed up by bigger calibers for serious work. They say, 22lr is also perfect for barter, almost being a currency. My SHTF calibers are 22 lr, 223, 308, 9mm, 10mm, 45 apc 12ga 00,5-6, 8, and slugs. If I could only have a few it is 22lr, 308,10mm, 12ga 00, 8, and slugs.

2011年8月23日 · Right now, there are about 12,500 rounds of .22lr ammo stacked underneath my reloading bench. That number includes about 500 rounds or so of Federal GameShok, which is the only high velocity .22lr ammo I have. All the rest is running 1200 fps or less, and most do not have any sort of hollowpoint.

2023年2月14日 · Much more punch than .22 LR, and a lot of ammo fits into a small amount of space and little weight. Hate to say this, but one could have an unlimited amount of ammo and the most accurate rifle ever and be double tapped within the first 10 minutes of a SHTF scenario.

The 22LR is, by far, the most common caliber in North America. As such, under a SHTF economy, the 22LR may very likely be the primary currency of exchange, meaning bullets you have on hand will have value, even if you don't have a gun to shoot them. (Imagine ten pounds of venison costing 25 bullets, for example.)
