Unless the exceptions apply, these sections clearly prohibit all types of wiring from being attached in any way to the support wires of a ceiling assembly. Unless ceiling grids are part of the building structure, they, too, are prohibited from furnishing support for cables and raceways.

As this pic shows, some firm went to great lengths to manufacture assorted connectors for this specific purpose. I look at B-Line's catalog shows they make a variety of such connectors (such as model BA-14). So I ask some questions:
