2013年4月11日 · Totally different cartridge and ballistics. 308 is very efficient in shorter barrels compared to a caliber like the 6.5/284. Which is optimized in a 26in tube. 6.5 bullets also have better BCs. But depending on what he plans on doing with the rifle it maybe exactly what he needs. I bought a 308 with a 16.5 barrel.

I was shooting 155gr A-max with about 45gr with IMR 4320 and was being affected by wind too much. I thought 180gr would have more of a drop. The 155gr is more flat than 180gr but is affected by wind too much.

Then I have a load for a Hornady 155 BTHP I use most often at short distances including the 300m range 5 min from my house. I tuned the velocity of the 155 load so the drop matches the 185's to 400m. 2019年6月13日 · A 12.5" .308 is pushing a 175gr at similar speeds to what a 12.5" 300blk pushes a 110gr bullet. Far more energy on target with much higher ballistic coefficients. I'm not going to defend the practicality of the .308 SBR though as it is a heavy pig. With a loaded mag and suppressor attached I'm looking at 12-13 pounds.

2010年1月14日 · Re: 308 18" barrel Velocity 168 GMM is accurate but does not have the best ballistics available for extended range. It's fine to 600-800 yards and is fine at that range out of an 18" barrel. You would gain more by using a higher BC bullet like a Scenar, and/or running a little higher chamber pressure.
