2008年7月2日 · this 345 cuin V8 was a very durable engine. Long life, low rpm, gas hog. I worked for an electrical utility and drove IH travelall, travelette and pickups. Never had one to have serious engine troubles. Never had to open engine for repairs.

2007年2月22日 · V8 345 was also used in the 815 and 915 combines in the late sixties and early sevenites. We had an 815 that had the V8 304, the 345 was an option but ours did not have it. That engine was the cause of the combine's demise. It burned to the ground during wheat harvest of 76, due to chaff in the spark plug wells iginiting.

I use the 2 intake manifold bolts at the very rear of the manifold which you can usually get to with the engine in a truck. The inner edges of these bolts are apx. 9" apart on the 345-392 while they are about 8" apart on the shorter block.

I have an original sales brocure from 1962 when the Loadstar was put on the market, and the 345 was an option in the 1800. It is amazing that the 345 could push that big ol' truck down the road. I guess it's all in the gearing.

I have a couple 345 v8 lying around I need put one into my inter truck , I have checked the compression on them , (cold check) The compression is around the 100 psi on them is this too. low , the truck I want to put one of them in is an older farm truck that only goes to deliver grain every now and again , plus a few pick ups in town.

2012年1月26日 · If you are hard set on a v8 a AMC 304/360 would be a good candidate too. As far as axles I assume you have a dana 30 front and dana 35 rear. The rear is the weak point and with larger tires and a v8 will equal trouble if you like the skinny pedal.
