Oct 29, 2000 · Well my 3960x also needs to be RMA due to 3 cores not able to even do 3.8ghz. I also notice the very high voltages and thought it was normal how AMD did Precision Boost, maybe not. Mine ran at default settings which has PB on. Only very briefly did I use Automatic OC in Ryzen Master on some benchmarks but never used it beyond that.

Dec 30, 2019 · AMD's states that the maximum recommend temperature of the 3960x and 3970x is 68 degrees C, but there is some disagreement about what that figure means. Some are saying AMD's 68C temperature removes a 27C TCTL offset, which would place the actual max thermal limit at 95 degrees.

I'm seeing the heat constantly sitting at 48-50C while in the BIOS. I have ensured that the paste is applied correctly and there are no bent pins on the motherboard.

I've got a Threadripper 3960x cooled with Corsair H115i Platinum RGB and while on heavy load temperatures reach 88C and 93C with PBO turned on (max temp according to AMD is 95C; CPU doesn't switch off after reaching that level). By heavy load I mean 3D rendering using Arnold (CPU-based renderer).

I've got a threadripper 3960X installed into a Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme with 32GB (4x16gb) of Trident Z Royal RAM. I've also got a Gigabyte Titan Ridge Thunderbolt card installed. With this card installed, I cannot use the XMP profile as the computer will not post. If I unplug the card, it boots normally with the XMP profile.
