Jun 4, 2013 · I have heard that 407c doesn't have that great of oil return so using on a rack with an oil seperator is why it is for supermarkets. 407a has a better oil return (mixing ability). Kinda like r422d (I think) has crapy oil return and must be ran with about a 50/50 poe and alk.
407c compressor in r22 unit - HVAC-Talk
May 5, 2016 · An R-407C compressor and an R-22 compressor are the same mechanically. The difference is that an R-22 compressor will have mineral oil in it and an R-407C compressor will have POE oil in it. R-22 will happily run over POE oil so the answer is: yes; that R-407C compressor is also compatible with R-22. PHM-----

Apr 17, 2019 · The absolute best thing to do with those units is to use R-22 over mineral oil. The reason is there is no oil pump in them. And they have a robust history of failures after converting. 407C over POE is the only thing Trane recommends, but the recommendation comes with hesitations; think they say something like "If you cannot acquire R-22."

May 22, 2016 · So I am at the parts house chatting with other techs about the price R22 and I come to find out that there are some techs that are no longer buying R22 and just adding 407C to R22 systems that are low on charged. Topped up 407C with 404A - HVAC-Talk
Oct 19, 2019 · Topped up a 404A system with approx 3lbs of 404A. What I didn't know that the system was changed to 407C at some point. Total gas inside around 110lbs. Don't think it's a big deal as they are both blend gasses and use the same oil. What do you guys think. Everything working well atm.
