2005年9月3日 · The 44Ti (t1/2 = 59 y) nuclide, an important signature of supernova nucleosynthesis, has recently been observed as live radioactivity by gamma-ray astronomy from the Cas A remnant. We investigate in the laboratory the major 44Ti production reaction, 40Ca (alpha,gamma)44Ti (E_cm = 0.6-1.2 MeV/u), by direct off- line counting of 44Ti nuclei.

This thesis addresses the problem behind the abundance of 44Ti and the origin of 26Al. The mismatch between the predicted abundance of 44Ti as produced by the only sites known to be able to create 44Ti, core collapse supernovae (CCSNe), and the observations, highlight the current uncertainty that exists in the physics of these stars.

Experimental: Post-elution processing studies were performed to reduce the volume and acidity of 44Sc-eluate from 44Ti/44Sc generator and to reduce amount of 44Ti in the final product for the syntheses of 44Sc-labelled radiopharmaceuticals. It was developed, similar to the one developed for the 68Ge/68Ga radionuclide generator [1].

As 44Ti decays, the accumulated scandium-44 is washed out of the generator by chemical methods. Ti-44 is primarily used in astrophysics and cosmology. It is a key isotope for studying supernova remnants, as its presence provides valuable information about the nucleosynthesis processes that occur during these stellar explosions.
