2022年3月10日 · Over the last few months I've converted a new United Trailers 5X8 XLV enclosed trailer into a camper trailer. It's something I've wanted to do for sometime. My wife and I have done a lot of van camping over the years and really liked it but wanted to move out of a vehicle and up to a small trailer that our Toyota Highlander could easily haul.

2024年8月7日 · I built a 5x8 camper on the Harbor Freight Super Duty 4x8 trailer kit. Worked out great and we're a few years in. Currently selling for $549 (I used one of those 20% off coupons when I bought mine) Trailer weight 276 lb Capacity 1720 lb GVWR 2000 lb (don't ask me why they don't add up, ask HF) This is a bolt together kit.

2021年6月18日 · 1. 5x8 frame, cabin backside extends 1 foot out, 2 side doors, 1 back hatch. 33" Jeep Rubicon tires (left over when I upsized my Jeep tire to 37"). 2. I do moderate off-roading, i plan to use Timbren axle-less suspension with E-brake.

2012年9月2日 · I went through the same thing and finally decided to go with 4x8 just to make my first build very simple, able to built with 4x8 sheets without any floor overhangs. I know it will feel narrow, but I figure it is better to build a 5x8 or 5x10 on a five foot wide trailer the next go round than mess with the overhang and wheel wells on the HF trailer.

2020年5月6日 · Primarily to prevent a high bumper from pushing the back of the camper in with a low-speed traffic light bump, but certainly won't protect very much over 1/2 mph or so. I also wanted the tail gate however, for changing fishing waders, leaving muddy shoes on the grate overnight, place to put tools, place to put a stove etc.
