2024年8月18日 · 644 Volunteer Gliding Squadron (VGS) is part of No 2 Flying Training School, based at Royal Air Force Syerston delivering training to the Royal Air Force Air Cadets Providing gliding training in the form of the Glider Induction Flight (GIF), Gliding Scholarship (GS) and Advanced Glider Training (AGT).

We want to celebrate and appreciate all the women that are part of 644 Volunteer Gliding Squadron, 2 Flying Training School and the wider Royal Air Force Air Cadets.

Today 644 VGS was visited by Air Cdre Gary Martin, the Director General of the Australian Air Force Cadets. The aim of the day being to see how the VGS operates, see the facilities, aircraft and training system in action.

2009年2月8日 · As one of the staff of 644 VGS I have been asked to compile a history of RAF Syerston and 644 VGS. With the change from Volunteer Gliding School to Volunteer Gliding Squadron we adopted the badge of the former 644 Squadron, consequently I propose to include a section on that unit.

Volunteer Gliding Squadrons (VGSs) are Royal Air Force Flying Training (FT) units, operating military Viking TX.1 (conventional) and Vigilant T.1 (motor) gliders to train Air Cadets from the Air Training Corps and the Combined Cadet Force.
