2012年10月14日 · Finishing rebuild, almost, of my 68 AMX. Purchased a set of Goodrich Long Tour 225 70R 15 tires and mounted them on steel American racing rims. Haven't driven the car yet, straight headers, but they look very large.

2017年3月9日 · I don’t know the exact widths but 68-69 are narrower than the 71-74 and I believe the Gremlin/Hornet AM20 was narrower than the 68-69 AMX/Javelin but could be swapped out. Please correct me as I am going from memory but the 68-69 was approximately 58”, the 70 56.5” and the 71-74 59.5”, flange face to flange face.

2020年7月6日 · Just a heads up, several years ago I installed a new wiring harness on a 68 AMX ( the main one). Everything match up but the starter would stay engaged when operating the key. Here the harness had two of the ignition switch wires incorrectly installed. I learned Always compare the old to the new!!!! Hope you find the answer to your problem. Dave

2023年4月29日 · Guys, I know this sounds really ignorant, but I need some help, it seems that my mechanic, cant locate an alternator for my 68 amx. He has not put car on lift yet, but will tomorrow to check engine stamp to verify for me what engine is in the car. Just wanted to pose a question, he says the alternator has 5 connection points on it.

The bell-housing came from an unidentified car, but I have driven my car with this part and the old linkage. The clutch-fork came from an unidentified car but looks right and the ball stud came from a 68 ...

2024年12月28日 · A 15x8 may rub either the fender or trunnion in front depending on back spacing. I've found a 255/60-15 (27.1" diameter) is about the largest you can go on the rear without modifying the wheel openings. I'm running a 235/60-15 on the front of my 69 AMX on a 15x7 with 4.25" backspace. There's only about a fingers width clearance to the trunnion.

2017年4月18日 · The 68's with tan interiors were terribly mismatched and were the worst in matching of the three interior colors that were offered. The hard plastic dash main frame, the plastic trim around the quarter and rear window were typically all painted the same color in that slightly metallic looking color you mentioned.

2021年8月30日 · The 68's had manifold issues from the get-go. Most likely you just need to tighten the manifold bolts, as they seem to loosen up with age. There are no gaskets used on stock 68 log manifolds, but AMC did use a hollow exhaust manifold bolt and a special washer as a fix to the original bolts backing out/loosening.
