The 6AT6 amplifier triode with double diodes sharing the same cathode connection was designed for use in superhet receivers as detector, AGC rectifier and first audio amplifier. Seen in profile the two diodes are the outer structures while the triode is housed in the central dark anode.

The 6AQ6, 6AT6 and 6AV6. The 6AQ6 has a 150 mA heater and therefore has the highest Rp and lowest current carrying capability.

It was designed for an EL95 single ended three Watt circuit. The 16 Ω tap was used for the 8 Ω load to give an effective primary impedance of 5 kΩ. The 6V6 screen grid was taken to the 160 Volt rail used for the 6AT6. The circuit worked well but the power was down at around 1.5 Watts.
