Mix94.5 (official call sign 6MIX) is a commercial FM radio station owned by Southern Cross Austereo in Perth, Western Australia, and is part of Southern Cross Austereo 's Hit Network. The station originally began as 6KY, beginning broadcasting on 23 October 1941 on 1210 kHz and would eventually end up at the frequency 1206 kHz.

The purpose built studios were located at 17-19 James Street, Perth and the transmitter was located on land fronting Government Road, between Crawford and Boulton Streets in Inglewood.

Mix 94.5 is an adult contemporary station in Perth and is owned by Southern Cross Austereo. The station started its life as 6KY and was Perth's fourth and last commercial AM station launching in 1941.

Radio Mix 94.5 FM (callsign: 6MIX) is an Australian commercial station in Perth, WA, owned and operated of SCA Hit Network, broadcast on frequency 94.5 FM. In May 2009 the radio station began broadcasting its signal on DAB+ 9B as well.

The station’s first building was located at East Perth. The building features an auditorium, five different radio stations, and small shops. Mix 94.5 was converted from AM to FM in the year 1991. The conversion took place when Peter Perrin was the General Manager. Now, 6KY became one of the two FM brands in the country.

6PM was Perth’s third commercial radio station when it launched April 22, 1937, broadcasting from the transmitter at Coffee Point, on the south side of the Swan River, near the South of Perth Yacht Club. 6PM was also the first Perth station to schedule announcers in regular time slots.

2010年5月6日 · In 1991, 6KY won the right to convert to FM and became KY-FM, later MIX 94.5, the name it bears today. Hot AC formatted MIX 94.5 is Perth's top rating radio station.

2009年6月30日 · In 1991, 6KY was the second of two AM radio stations in Perth to convert to the FM band. The official call-sign was changed to 6JKY, to observe the normal three-letter call-sign protocol for FM stations, but identified on-air as 94.5 KY FM.

Perth's fourth and last commercial AM station launched in 1941 with 6KY (now Mix 94.5). FM radio arrived in Perth in 1980 with the launch of 96fm. In 1990, 6PM converted to PMFM followed by 6KY becoming Mix 94.5 the following year. After a gap of 22 years, Perth's 2nd commercial FM station launched with Nova 93.7 in 2002.

In 1991, the Jack Bendat owned 6KY was the second AM radio station in Perth to go FM, initially being identified on-air as 94.5 KY FM, later to be known as Mix 94.5.
