The 6SN7GT is a British made glass tubular version of this much loved double triode valve from the 1940's. Each half of the 6SN7 is electrically equal to the 6J5 triode. The wide glass tube envelope is 28 mm in diameter and excluding the IO base pin length, stands 65 mm high.

But the 6SN7GT is arguably the best general-purpose audio triode. Its large octal format is more rugged and less prone to intermittent pin connections than miniature type. Its mu of 20 is a nice compromise between the old low-mu types and low-current high mu types.

6SN7 is a dual triode vacuum tube with an eight-pin octal base. It provides a medium gain (20 dB). The 6SN7 is basically two 6J5 triodes in one envelope. The 6SN7 was originally released in 1939.
