Advisory Neighborhood Commissions are bodies of local government in our city. Created in 1974 through a District referendum in the District of Columbia Home Rule Act. The ANCs' main job is to be their neighborhood's official voice in advising the District government (and Federal agencies) on things that affect their neighborhoods.

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 7F (“ANC 7F”) holds public meetings that are open to the community to discuss a range of issues affecting the area and make recommendations to city decision-makers based on community input while also providing residents with resources.

The ANCs are a non-partisan body of elected officials that represent local community members. The commissioners serve two-year terms without pay.
