Number 8 Squadron (sometimes written as No. VIII Squadron) is a squadron of the Royal Air Force. It is based at RAF Lossiemouth, Scotland and is expected to take delivery of the Boeing E-7 Wedgetail AEW1 during 2025. The Wedgetail is the replacement for the Boeing E-3D Sentry which the squadron operated from until 1991 to 2021.

VIII Squadron was relocated to RAF Lossiemouth, from RAF Waddington after the retirement of the E-3D Sentry AEW Mk1 in 2021. The Squadron will be taking delivery of the E-7 Wedgetail AEW Mk1 in 2024. Aircraft flown have included the Vincent, Liberator, Hunter FGA9, Shackleton AEW MK 2 and the E-3D Sentry AEW MK 1.

8 Squadron RAF Originally formed January 1, 1915, the Squadron served on the Western Front and in the U. K. until January 20, 1920, when it was disbanded. On October 18, 1920 it was reformed in Egypt and transferred to Iraq in 1921.

On May 15, 1945, No. 200 Squadron at RAF Jessore in India was renumbered No. 8 Squadron, flying the American Consolidated Liberator VI, before returning to Yemen the following year, taking on the role of a fighter bomber unit with Mosquito FB.6s.
