The retcon in Shippuden about the 9 tails being split in half was directly contradicted by every other arc. For one thing Kushina had the entire 9 tails sealed in her and she was 100% fine. Every leaf village Jinchuuriki before Kushina also had the entire 9 tails sealed inside them and they were completely fine.

Shukaku being the 1-Tailed Beat is the weakest and hates Kumara the 9-Tailed Beast (i haven't seen enough of Naruto to confirm that name) for having the most number of tails. similar to what Kohakuren says in Kamidori when describing her tails (it takes 150 years of experience to develop a single tail so she's lived for 1200+ years)
