WKTU (103.5 FM) is a rhythmic adult contemporary formatted radio station licensed to Lake Success, New York, a suburb of New York City. WKTU is owned by iHeartMedia and broadcasts from studios at 125 West 55th Street in Midtown Manhattan; its transmitter is located at the Empire State Building.

WKTU New York has the distinction of being one of the industry’s great format launches twice. The original “Disco 92” galvanized the industry in summer 1978, setting off a chain reaction that led to the loss of AM powerhouse WABC’s Top 40 format and an early ‘80s format doldrums.

In 1978, “Disco 92” WKTU New York made radio history. Its switch from “mellow rock” became one of the all-time station launch success stories, a 11.3 share debut rivaled only a few times since.

2008年7月28日 · Disco 92 had a grasp on the city that nobody can image a radio station havving today. I was obsessed with it, as someone who loved radio, and the energy of the music. Disco 92 was to appear at seabreeze park in Brooklyn, not far from where I was living at the time. The van was to be there, the DJs… a big street festival.

2020年8月3日 · As the 1970s came to a close, Disco quickly fell out of favor, and Disco 92 evolved into 92KTU, playing post Disco dance & R&B, with some Pop in the mix as well. This aircheck features 92KTU from 1983.
