The AMX International AMX is a ground-attack aircraft jointly developed by Brazil and Italy. The AMX is designated A-11 Ghibli by the Italian Air Force and A-1 by the Brazilian Air Force. The Italian name, "Ghibli", is taken from the hot dry wind of the Libyan desert.

The A-11 probably can spell the difference between success and failure in any US Mach-2.5-plus supersonic-transport program. The A-11 provides an immediately available means of get­ting vital flight-test time on all SST systems. It will yield data on the performance of titanium structure at Mach 3 that could not be obtained by any other means.
