A 188th Fighter Wing A-10 Thunderbolt II "Warthog" sits on the 188th flightline March, 8, 2010. The 188th, based in Fort Smith, Ark., deployed for an Aerospace Expeditionary Forces rotation March 8. The 188th will be deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, for more than two months.

The 188th Wing is a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (MQ-9 Reaper), Space Focused Targeting, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Unit based in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The men and women of the 188th are able to rapidly deploy and support ground forces all over the world.

2014年6月11日 · The 188th flew the A-10 for just seven years but achieved new heights in combat action since it received the aircraft April 7, 2007. The 188th quickly upgraded its A-10As to A-10Cs and later deployed nearly 300 Airmen and 10 Warthogs to Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan, in 2010.

Civil Air Patrol cadets visit the 188th Wing. The 188th Wing hosted more than 133 Civil Air Patrol cadets from Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Kansas, and Massachusetts for their 2023 encampment on July 12.

The A-10, affectionately dubbed the “Warthog,” is a specialized ground-attack aircraft, which provides close-air support to ground forces operating in Afghanistan. The 188th currently has approximately 75 Airmen deployed to Bagram in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
