7.5" vs 10.5" - AR15.COM
7.5" .223/5.56 is a violent little beast. I didn't find it fun to shoot at all. The only muzzle device I found, that would eliminate the "second shot, sight obscuring, massive fireball" was a PWS CQB 556 Gen 2 - and it weighs about 8oz, and costs over $100 IIRC.

2019年3月25日 · Meanwhile, 5.7 costs more then 5.56 or even .300 BLK - calibers readily available AR's already. I'm all for new 5.7 weapons - but they should make sense. What makes sense for the 5.7 is a PDW similar to the MP7 or B&T MP9.
5.7x28 Barrel Length 5" or 8" - AR15.COM
2022年12月21日 · I'm looking at adding a 5.7x28 AR pistol. I really like the 5.7x28 round and currently have an FN 5.7 pistol. CMMG makes two Banshee pistols, one with a 5" barrel and one with an 8" barrel. I'm thinking I would get better performance from the 8" barrel, but the overall size of the pistol with the 5" barrel is appealing.
AR-15 in 5.7x28mm? - AR15.COM
2005年2月20日 · Marty said it best. The FN 5.7 looks to be about like the old MMJ 5.7 Spitfire. Necked down 30 Carbine. Your best starting point would probably be the Olympic Arms AR15 chambered for the 30 carbine. It uses M1 Carbine mags also. I'm not familiar with case dimensions of the FN 5.7 round though the M1 carbine mag may work feeding the FN round.

2014年8月28日 · And please don't waste everybody's time trying to talk me out of a 7" 5.56 caliber weapon. I'm not interested in building something in another caliber at this time (maybe 9mm later on down the road). 5.56 will be just fine for what I need it to do. Terminal Ballistics of a 7.5" Barrel - AR15.COM
2014年3月6日 · I have pistols in 7.5 and 11". Even with reduced ballistic performance, between 30 rounds of 5.56 and the fireball straight from inner hell, it would be somewhat discouraging to anyone on the other end of a 7.5" barrel if I did have to use it in a self defense situation. Yeah you give up velocity but the compactness of a 7.5" AR is a nice benefit.
7.5 inch vs 10.5 inch - AR15.COM
2018年2月9日 · Opinions wanted. Building AR 5.56 pistol for general fun shooting. All I need to finish it is the barreled upper. I've been leaning toward a 10.5 inch barrel for the additional accuracy but also think a little stubby 7.5 inch would be cool too. Again, it's just going to be for fun shooting in the desert and maybe even for home defense.

2025年2月22日 · It is very overbored in comparison to traditional 5.56 cans. I should soon be able to compare 5.56 vs 7.62 Flows and 5.56 vs 7.62 Veloss. None of those are equal length, though. For traditional cans, with equal lengths and designs, a 5.56 can is quieter than a 7.62 can, but it’s not a night and day difference to the shooter.
