Due to superstition this Dash 9 was renumbered to 599 by BNSF. Later rebuilt as an AC44C4M. The famous ATSF 666, renumbered to ATSF 599 and now BNSF 599. The 599 was originally the 666 until renumbered due to concerns by some rather supersticious employees. Here, you can see some employees still recall this unit's history.

BNSF 599 is the former ATSF 666. BNSF C44-9W 599 was former ATSF 666 when it was brand new, The 599 was the last unit of ftur on NS train 23Z. A SB Z train passing the detector at MP 358.5 on the BNSF Fort Worth Sub with the former ATSF 666 on the head end.
