Flag of Aargau. The flag of Aargau was adopted in 1803 by Samuel Ringier-Seelmatter. The flag is divided into two parts: The left side is black with a central wavy band. This symbolises the fertile grounds of Aargau, through which flows the Aare, the Reuss, and the Limmat. The right side is light blue with three five-pointed stars.

Das Wappen des Kantons Aargau ist in Schwarz und Blau gespalten. Heraldisch rechts ist in weiss ein Fluss dargestellt, heraldisch links drei weisse Sterne. Das wurde im Jahr 1803, kurz nach der Kantonsgründung, eingeführt. Die heute amtlich verwendete Darstellung des Wappens wurde 1930 festgelegt.

In March 1798 the above plain green flag was a de facto civil flag and possible state flag of Aargau. From 26 March to 12 April, the red-white-black triband was used as a civil flag and probable state flag of short-lived independent state. The proportions and colour shades of these two flags are either unknown or unspecified.

Die Fahne des Kantons Aargau ist eine der ältesten Kantonsfahnen und wurde 1803, dem Jahr der Gründung des Kantons, eingeführt. Das zweigeteilte Feld ist schwarz und zeigt einen Fluss, sowie blau mit drei Sternen.

Die Aargau-Flagge wurde 1803 kurz nach dem Vermittlungsgesetz verabschiedet. Entworfen von Samuel Ringier, Student und Mitglied von Zofingue, präsentierte dieser seine Flagge auf 20. April 1803. Das fragliche Dokument trug ein äußerst gelungenes Cover, das auch heute noch auf der Website des Kantons sichtbar und archiviert ist.
