The curious and informed traveler will find several fascinating seemingly abandoned ghost towns, cabins, and communities hidden throughout this region’s mountains and forested regions.

2024年5月22日 · One of the most interesting cabins that stands in Elkmont today is the Levi Trentham cabin, which was preserved in late 2017. It’s one of the oldest buildings in this region of the Smoky Mountains and was relocated from the Jakes Creek area to Elkmont.

Today, people are welcome to explore the “abandoned town” in the Smoky Mountains and see structures that have slowly been reclaimed by nature. Along the Jakes Creek or Little River Trails, you can see stone structure remnants of some of the demolished buildings.
