When you pass an ABTC examination for the first time, you will be awarded the appropriate credential from ABTC within 30 to 45 days of passing the examination. Your certification is valid for a period of three years as indicated on your certificate.

ABTC certification is granted to qualified candidates who complete and pass the certification examination. Each certification is valid for three years, and ABTC-certified professionals can recertify through continuing education activities or by successfully retaking the examination.

Recertification | American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC)
Each ABTC certification (CCTC®, CPTC®, CCTN®, CTP®, and CTFC) is valid for three years. There are two ways to recertify: You may retake the certification examination – a passing grade will result in recertification.
Certificants holding multiple ABTC certifications (two or more), 90 CEPTCs must be earned within the three-year cycle. For individuals certified prior to April 2020, the deadline for submission of 60 credits is December 31 st .
