When you pass an ABTC examination for the first time, you will be awarded the appropriate credential from ABTC within 30 to 45 days of passing the examination. Your certification is valid for a period of three years as indicated on your certificate.

Your certification through ABTC signals to employers, colleagues, and patients that you bring exceptional expertise to the field of organ donation and transplantation. It is a mark of excellence and can broaden your professional career.

ABTC certification is granted to qualified candidates who complete and pass the certification examination. Each certification is valid for three years, and ABTC-certified professionals can recertify through continuing education activities or by successfully retaking the examination.

As part of ABTC’s commitment to helping certification exam candidates succeed, we proudly offer online self-assessment exams (SAEs) for the CCTC®, CCTN®, CPTC®, and CTP® transplant certification examinations.

Each ABTC certification (CCTC®, CPTC®, CCTN®, CTP®, and CTFC) is valid for three years. There are two ways to recertify: You may retake the certification examination – a passing grade will result in recertification.

Certificants holding multiple ABTC certifications (two or more), 90 CEPTCs must be earned within the three-year cycle. For individuals certified prior to April 2020, the deadline for submission of 60 credits is December 31 st .
