The current flag of the Australian Capital Territory was officially adopted by the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly in 1993. The flag differs from the Australian state flags as it is not a defaced Blue Ensign. It is similar in design to the flag of the Northern Territory.

ACT Flag History. The first proposals for a distinctive Australian Capital Territory (ACT) flag were made in 1983. over the years and after more discussions, design proposals were sought in 1992 for an ACT flag. Five proposals were created, all incorporating a modified version of the Canberra coat of arms and the colours blue, yellow, and white.

That law suggests civilians in attendance should face the flag "at attention" (standing upright) with their hand over their heart. [4] The U.S. flag is defined by 4 U.S.C. § 5, executive order and official government standards:

A flag is a fabric banner that represents whomever it belongs to. For its first 80 years, Canberra and the ACT never had a flag. A maroon banner with the coat of arms was used unofficially from 1930, but it was never especially popular.
