Unveiled at Germany’s Innotrans in 2010, the ALP-45DP was the latest product from Bombardier for the American market. It boasted a dual powered design that allowed the locomotive to operate under diesel power, or collect electric power from overhead catenary wire.

One of these engines must run at full power in order to deliver HEP to passenger cars while in diesel mode.

2022年12月15日 · NEWARK, N.J. — The NJ Transit board of Directors on Wednesday approved a $34.85 million contract for overhauls of the diesel engines in its fleet of ALP45 dual-power locomotives, which the agency says is needed for the locomotives to maintain their EPA Tier III emission standards.

At present Bombardier Kassel is working on a batch of 17 optional Class ALP-45 dual-power locomotives for NJT. This latest batch ordered in January 2018 will comply with the EPA’s Tier 4 noxious exhaust emission limits. Apart from compliance with Tier 4, the new locomotives will incorporate only minor changes.

2010年9月23日 · The ALP-45DP is derived from the ALP-46 electric locos already supplied to NJ Transit, and will be used to operate through services from non-electrified suburban routes into New York City and central Montréal. They will work with double-deck push-pull coaches already being supplied by Bombardier.
