3 天之前 · re: 604 vs. 605 It seems Altec tried to phase out 604 production with the introduction of the 605. The 605 was 3 dB less efficient due to it's smaller magnetic structures. Hence the special order 604D for professional users who required the efficiency.. Altec reintroduced the 604 as a standard cataloge item with the "Super Duplex" 604E .

2011年7月28日 · You may find this experience enteresting: Early in 1942, An Altec Lansing brochure arrived At Radio station KICA, Clovis, New Mexico, announcing the Altec "604 Duplex Speaker." This made quite a stir in the program production & advertising sales departments.

2004年5月8日 · My current 'ultimate' system is a three way with an Altec 416-8B in a 620A cabinet, an Altec 311-60 with a 288 driver on top, a Heil AMT-1 ES tweeter on top of that and a crossover based on a highly modified Model 19 driven with a McIntosh MX110 preamp and a McIntosh MC240 amp.

2017年2月2日 · It all started by sharing a room with dgwogo (Dave) for a few years at AKFest. One year we had my Model 19 and his 604-8H's in the same hotel room. I fell in love with 604's, sold my 19's and got a pair 1981 model 18's, even though not listed as such, but would have been a year earlier. Basically 620B cabinets with the 604-8K's.

2021年6月27日 · I'm ready to start planning for construction of replacement - hopefully permanent - enclosures for my Altec 604-8gs and would really appreciate hearing your thoughts or experiences on just how big I should go. Having heard the 604-8g in a variety of enclosures - the largest being the 620 - I consider the ~9 cu ft of the 620 as a minimum volume.

2016年2月21日 · Altec used this horn compensation scheme in almost the same values on a variety of different crossovers, including several 604 types and the model 19s. It does not address the peak at 2600 Hz that I have measured on many 802 type compression drivers including the ones on the 604 variants.
