Hi, I live in Houston, Texas, and I'm looking for someone to build me a very nice pair of 620 cabinets for an Altec 604 8H III from Great Plains Audio.

The 416 is used in the model 19 which nets even larger than the 620, so it should be just fine. You will need to calculate the porting, I believe. There are multiple Altec wonks on the Altec users forum who would eagerly entertain this question and could possibly help with the porting.

The ALTEC 620 was designed for the 604 series. The Onken 360 was designed for 416 A, B or C and 515 B or C.

Cabinet recommendations for this driver can be found at the Great Plains Audio web site devoted to Altec classic equipment. The 620 was actually designed for earlier versions of this speaker, but it has been used with the 8G to good effect.

Hi, I'm building a pair of Altec 620 cabinets for a pair of GPA 604-8H coaxials. I'm making the front baffle from 2 thicknesses of 3/4 inch MDF, so 1&1/2 inch thick. I'll be using the same slot port as the standard 620 cabinet, but I'm wondering if I need to alter the dimension to account for the extra baffle thickness? Cheers.

It shows a single front port that has an area of 27.5 square inches , (11" by 2.5" ) .
