2021年12月8日 · There was a rather small theatre in El Paso called the Colon just off El Paso street that had 3 A8's as I remember. They bought diaphragms from us and we recommended percussion caps to help protect 802 diaphragms from failing. They were using old Altec 1568 or 69 amps at the time that used tubes.

2023年12月14日 · I have my Altec 19s placed in the corners like your second picture. They are about 18 inches or so from the corners, toed in to cross about 6 feet or so in front of listening position. Room is 25 x 40 feet, with the listening position about 18 feet from the front wall. Absolutely fills the room with glorious sound! Good luck!

FWIW the best thing to do is to put them up on a simple 3" base for now.That should be enough.Or you could measure the height of your ears while sitting in your listening position.Raise speakers up so the center of the Manta Ray Horn is at ear level.This should give you the best result.

2024年6月1日 · But you are going to need some very strong efficient subs to match the speaker below 50 HZ. I would want the horn to be at ear height. Either raised off the floor or hung upside down from the ceiling rafters. Then you could slip the subs under neath and not loose to much floor space. Altec and EV made a double 18 inch sub, that should do the trick.

2019年6月23日 · I've been a Altec fan since the 70s. My introduction was a pair of VOTT driven by a Marantz Amp at a friend of a friends house. Then 10 years later I picked up a single Altec 844A outside a small theater one morning, just before the garbage truck got there. It was in excellent physical condition but the crossover had a issue.
