The Scenic Byway begins 9 miles south of Bristol, Florida at the boundary of the Apalachicola National Forest on State Road 12. The byway follows SR 12 for almost 4miles before taking the left turn onto State Road 379. Passing through Sumatra, it takes State Road 65 south to the southernmost tip of the forest. Total length is 32 miles

The Appalachee Scenic Byway traverses the western end of the Apalachicola National Forest. The flat, grassy savannahs are home to a wide variety of wildflowers such as orchids, sudews, and carnivorous pitcher plants.

Look for endangered red-cockaded woodpeckers, fox squirrels, black bears, bobcats, wild turkeys, gray foxes, raccoons, and alligators are at home in the diversified ecosystems of the Apalachee Savannahs Scenic Byway.

2015年12月7日 · Apalachee Savannahs is in northwest Florida about 45 miles west of Tallahassee. The byway begins in Bristol and travels south to the junction with US 98, east of Apalachicola. Apalachee Savannahs is 60 miles long and follows CR 12, FL 379, and FL 65. The roads are two-lane paved roads suitable for all vehicles and generally remain open all year.
