ARTCCs typically have at least one backup radio receiver and transmitter system for each frequency, which can usually be placed into service quickly with little or no disruption of ATC service. Occasionally, technical problems may cause a delay, but switchover seldom takes more than 60 seconds.

The Oakland ARTCC on VATSIM strives to be one of the most professional and realistic ARTCCs in VATUSA, and controllers are expected to know and learn a significant amount of information. Chicago ARTCC is one of the 22 regional ARTCCs in the US and provides virtual ATC services on the VATSIM network.

The Virtual Washington ARTCC is a community of pilots and air traffic controllers on VATSIM who come together to enjoy the art of flight simulation.

The Seattle Air Route Traffic Control Center (or ZSE or Seattle Center or Seattle ARTCC) is the area control center responsible for controlling and ensuring proper separation of IFR aircraft in Washington state, most of Oregon, and parts of Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and California, as well as the neighboring area into the Pacific Ocean. The Denver ARTCC covers approximately 285,000 square miles of airspace over all or part of the states of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. Each month ZLA provides over 100 hours of live training sessions. Our students could never gain the required experience without the help of the pilots who provide them with traffic. Wayne Conrad delivers some important ground rules that all pilots should consider when flying in student skies.
