venting and moisture in attic | DIY Home Improvement Forum
2010年7月29日 · But I figure that if a roof is made to take 160 degrees outside having a hot attic in itself doesn't seem to be much of a problem. The more important matter seems to me avoiding mildew and mold up in the attic. What about a dehumidifier? Wouldn't that help (and just by virtue of the lack of humidity the air in the attic should feel more pleasant.

2024年2月14日 · It also pulses. It is mounted in an attic space directly over the great room. The great room is square, about 25’x25’ with a 14’ high ceiling. The shape of the room directs the vibration from the unit down so it’s very annoying. It can also be heard from two rooms that have common walls with this attic space.
Whole House Dehumidifier for Multiple Floors - How to...
2021年12月12日 · Here is my current HVAC set-up. I've got a finished basement (around 1200 sq ft), a first floor and second floor (2000 sq ft each). I've got a separate HVAC unit for each floor. The equipment (furnace/air handler) for the basement and first floor are in the basement; the equipment for the 2nd floor is in the attic.
moisture in attic - DIY Home Improvement Forum
2010年2月2日 · It would be very helpful if you could post a link to pictures of the exterior of the house (all sides) from grade to the peak of the roof, the interior finished spaces if any of these are directly under-roof (ex: knee walls and sloped ceilings) , and a 360 degree view of the attic interior - often, "ad-hoc" attempts to improve attic venting on these types of roofs are ineffective due to ...
High humidity in upstairs room - will a dehumifider help or hurt?
2018年6月19日 · Dehumidifier would help a lot for the reasons you stated. But would be noisy. A room like that should have a mini-split heatpump which is variable capacity so you can get enough heat in the winter without strip but not have dehumidification issues being so oversized. These units can also maintain capacity as it gets colder down to 0f or below.

2022年9月17日 · Dehumidifier Rf terminal: connect this to HVAC R wire; leave thermostat R wire connected too. Dehumidifier Gh terminal: connect this to the HVAC where we disconnected thermostat green from earlier. The other wires in the dehumidifier wiring diagram have to do with venting in external air, which I don't intend to do.
Could Poor Attic Ventilation be a cause of HIGH INDOOR...
2016年11月25日 · LOL, although it sounds crazy the ac is a great dehumidifier and should quickly bring the humidity level down. @ Glanz, "but is this possible that poor attic ventilation would cause high INDOOR RH?" Not really. When ac is running and house is colder than the outside you will get a minimal air flow from attic to house, but not in the winter.
Crawlspace dehumidifier - needed or not? - DIY Home …
2023年7月24日 · There's no point of putting a dehumidifier in an un-encapculated crawl - the ground needs a vapor/moisture barrier. A dehumidifier without that would just run and run and burn up a lot of electricity, never really controlling the humidity. Ventilating a crawl is counter-productive in summer in a humid climate, just bringing in more humidity.
Suck more air out of the basement? And how about that attic...
2022年4月19日 · Why would you extend the ac into the attic? Was the existing unit sized for the extra load. My parents had a concrete basement, they put a dehumidifier down there and cut a hose into the tank of the machine. It ran when it needed to and drained into the floor drain. Once a month I would throw some bleach down the drain, and clean the grill with ...
Attic Conversion Humidity & Curious Attic Insulation
2022年8月29日 · Hello, my (new to me) 1920s house has a third floor attic conversation bedroom that gets very humid--it rained last night and it was 67% this morning--so I'm looking to find ways to decrease the humidity. I'm currently using a dehumidifier and it's not unusual for the 50 pint bucket to fill in one day.
