N249 turns out to be the recirculation control valve for the turbo. I located it but according to the workshop manual from Bentleys Publishers I need special tools for testing.

At least that's what myself and a bunch of others believe. If you have the DV installed with the bottom of the "can" in the TIP than it's installed correctly.

Once I get some more hose and t-fittings, I intend to try bypassing the N249 to see if things clear up.
