2019年10月26日 · The blade is stamped “S&K” referencing the maker (P.J.) Schnitzler & (W.B.S.) Kirschbaum who operated in Solingen from 1811 to 1865. The ricasso of the blade also bears the Austrian acceptance stamp to the left, (a very small double-headed eagle) and the initials “GF” stating that the blade was forged from cast steel.

The portrait of Skanderbeg in the illustrated catalogue of the collection of armour at Ambras (known as the Armamentarium Heroicum, published in 1601) is the earliest known depiction of the helmet and the extant sword. The portrait shows Skanderbeg clutching the sword, with the helmet placed at his feet.

The grip is inlaid with the coat of arms of Austria in carved mother-of-pearl; the blade bears the mark of Hans Sumersperger, court knifesmith to Emperor Maximilian I (1459–1519). Such knives formed part of a group of implements that were used to prepare freshly killed game, including bear, wild boar, and deer, after a hunt.
